About the Role

A leading contractor in the UK water sector is expanding its design capability and recruiting Mechanical Designers at all levels to support an expanding portfolio of AMP8 projects.
This is an opportunity to contribute to essential infrastructure that sustains communities and protects the environment. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering mechanical design solutions from concept through to construction — ensuring systems that are robust, efficient, and sustainable.

Key Responsibilities

Design mechanical systems for both infrastructure and non-infrastructure water projects.
Produce layouts, specifications, and design documentation for:

  • Pumping stations and mechanical plant
  • Dosing systems and water treatment processes
  • Storage tanks, settlement systems, and refurbishment works
  • Pipework, valves, and mechanical interfaces
  • Integration with electrical and control systems
  • Collaborate closely with civil, electrical, and process teams to deliver coordinated designs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, client frameworks, and health and safety regulations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in the water and wastewater sectors (preferred for junior roles, essential for senior).
  • Strong mechanical design skills with a focus on buildability and efficiency.
  • Working knowledge of relevant design codes, specifications, and client frameworks.
  • A collaborative mindset and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment and support multiple design packages.
