Job Title: QHSE Manager

The Role:
- Ensure company compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Develop, review, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Lead and manage the maintenance of the company’s ISO Management Systems (Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental), ensuring effective implementation and continuous improvement.
- Act as the company’s Quality Coordinator, closing out non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Audit ISO management systems at scheduled intervals, addressing deficiencies and maintaining compliance with standards.
- Conduct health and safety audits on live construction sites, producing reports, and ensuring timely closure of actions.
- Manage personnel training records and organise QHSE training requirements.
- Support the team during the planning stages of tasks/projects, and assist in producing documentation (e.g., RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, toolbox talks, etc.).
- Ensure QHSE documentation is up to date, conducting annual reviews.
- Maintain all company accreditations and manage audits with third-party auditors.
- Complete customer prequalification questionnaires and support bids in QHSE matters.
- Manage the approval process for new subcontractors/suppliers and conduct annual reviews.
- Conduct accident and incident investigations, maintaining company records and statistics.
- Ensure the company’s QHSE position is defendable and compliant with regulations.
- Stay updated on current regulations and codes of practice, and disseminate updates to the team.
- Report on QHSE matters to the board monthly and produce safety bulletins when required.
- Perform any other tasks reasonably required as part of a small team.
Requirements:
Health & Safety (H&S):
- Experience in construction subcontracting, with experience in setting up and managing sites as Principal Contractor under CDM2015 regulations.
- NEBOSH Construction Diploma (or equivalent), with construction-specific qualifications.
- Strong practical construction knowledge, with the ability to devise solutions and actively engage in problem-solving.
- This is a hands-on role, not just an advisory or oversight position. The ideal candidate will proactively support the team in completing tasks on time.
Quality & Environmental (Q&E):
- Previous experience in leading and managing integrated ISO Management Systems is essential.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 is required.
- Experience as a Quality Coordinator or in a similar role is highly desirable.
