Mechanical Engineer
Location: UK-Based Sites
Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum + benefits

Our client, a major player in the energy infrastructure sector, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their UK Engineering team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of the mechanical discipline across complex, high-value projects in the bulk liquid storage industry.
What You’ll Be Doing:

Take the lead on mechanical systems design, specification, and assurance across feasibility, FEED, and execution stages.

Manage and optimise static mechanical systems including tanks, vessels, piping networks, and associated support structures.

Ensure compliance with Pressure Equipment and Safety Regulations and industry standards (API, ASME, EEMUA).

Act as a technical authority during hazard studies, audits, root cause analyses, and MOC reviews.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, providing technical expertise from concept through commissioning.

Support emergency response and ensure adherence to site rules and engineering protocols.
What We’re Looking For:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chartered Engineer or actively pursuing chartership).

Deep knowledge of piping systems, including stress analysis tools such as CAESER II.

Familiarity with DSEAR (ATEX), PED, PUWER, and other UK/EU mechanical safety legislation.

Experienced in the design, specification, and operation of static equipment in oil/gas or chemical storage environments.

Strong communicator with a safety-first mindset and a passion for engineering excellence.
